Quite a few large white pines died several years ago when we had a severe drought. In a recent wind storm the dead pine in this picture started to come down, but then was Stopped by an understory, young maple tree. Now it is perched like the sword of Damocles over the stack of drying rough sawn, white pine boards. I suppose the maple saved the drying wood from being smashed and gave me some time to move the pine boards to another location. Since the wood has been air drying for almost three years now, it is about as dry as it is going to get, short of kiln drying it. So into the shed, garage and garage attic it goes. Easier said than done though. This is going to be a lot of work. First the ground needs to soak up the recent rain and dry out so I can get my pickup truck up next to the pile. There is no sense in making the job any more difficult than it has to be. I just wish my shoulder wasn’t still sore from the ski accident last December!
